what causes light to refract

light refract or simply bend in direction when it changes medium for two reasons

1. it velocity changes when light move from one medium to another, light have different velocity in vacuum, air , water, glass and more, when light changes medium, it velocity changes , , when its velocity changes.
2. the wavelenght changes when it changes medium, as velocity is proportional to wavelength
