why did each of the different elements have a different emission spectrum

atoms of element has different electronic configuration,  the color emitted in a spectrum depends on which electron is emitted and from what orbital, for example when an atom is heated and the electrons jump from n=4  instead of n=2  , then the color of the spectrum will differ,because they have different electronic configuration,  different electrons located at their respective orbitals.
