how can there be more than 1000 different atoms when there are only about 100 different elements

There can be more than different 1000 of atoms because atoms  have isotopes ,  these isotopes are atoms of same element with same atomic number but different mass number. a single atom can have more than ten different isotopes . for example. chlorine-35. chlorine-37, uranium-235, uranium-238 etc.
