how do quarks make up protons and neutrons

The protons is made up of two up  quarks and a single down quarks, held together by a strong nuclear force, mediated by the gluon, whereas the neutron are made up of two down quarks and one up quarks mediated by a quantum of interaction called the gluons. This is why both protons and neutrons are classified as baryons, meaning hadrons with up to three quarks.
