What Happens When Light Is Absorbed Into An Atom Where Does The Energy Go

according to bohr’s atomic model, when an atom absorb energy, its electrons at their  ground state will get excited, if the energy is up to the excitation energy  of such energy level, the electron will translate( jump)  from  the ground state (lowest energy level)  to a higher energy level.  the electron will only return to its original energy level after it lost this energy in the from electromagnetic radiation.
