Name the force that holds nuclear particles together and describe its characteristics

The force that hold nuclear particles (protons and neutrons) together are of two type, the strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force  or simply strong and weak interaction, the strong interaction has effect only within inter-nuclear distance while the weak interaction has effect outside beyond the nuclear distance.
