what happens to the mass number and atomic number when it undergoes beta decay

The process that will lead to an increase in atomic number is the beta minus decay; where a neutron splits into proton, electrons and an electron neutrino; this process will produce isobars, different atoms with same mass number or atomic mass. Isobars has different atomic number.
Example beta minus decay is the decay of magnesium-23 into sodium-23.
12Mg = 11Na + β
