how positron emission occur in sulfur-31

sulphur-31 has an atomic mass of 31 and an atomic number of 16, when one of its protons split into neutron, positron and electron neutrino through positron decay. te number of protons decreases to 1 while the total number of neutron remain the same. the daughter nucleus will therefore have an atomic number of 15 which correspond to phosphorous with an atomic mass of 31.
