Antiparticles
are substance with mass same as their corresponding particle but with opposite charges.
When
particles and antiparticles meet they annihilate , meaning they destroys themselves
by releasing a photon.
All matters and
particles have their respective anti particle, same in mass but opposite in
charge. When electrons and positron meet
they will annihilate when quarks and antiquarks meet they will annihilate ,
when neutrinos and antineutrinos meet
they will annihilates, baryons and antibaryons
will annihilates likewise, mesons and antimeson will dismiss by
releasing a photons.
Other examples
are electrons and positron, electrons is the particle positron is the antiparticle, they both have
same masses both opposite charges, electrons is negatively charges while the
positron is positively charged. Protons also has an antiparticles called the
antiprotons, both have same masses but opposite charges, the antiprotons has two anti-up quarks and one anti-down quarks,
likewise the sign of their charges is opposite, meaning anti proton will have
negative charge of magnitude one.
Neutron is particle , a baryon with three
quarks, the antineutron the antiquarks as its constituent particles instead of
quarks, masses is same, but same charge of zero. The only difference are the
constituent quarks and antiquarks differences.
therefore when
particles and antiparticles collide they annihilates.
