Name of the book
University Physics with
Modern Physics (14th Edition)
Content
Covers undergraduate
general physics courses, from classical to modern physics.
The book has
many examples and diagram explaining
concepts. It has problems for each section so as to make
sure you understand before moving forward.
It cover many
difficult aspect of physics like vectors and calculus and
based explanation on challenging-to-impossible chapter problems.
Particle physics, relativity, and semiconductors are
all covered with explanations and intuitive references that I have not seen anywhere.
Diagrams and examples
The explanation is very good and accessible
with many examples and illustration.
About the Authors
This book is written by Dr. Roger A. Freedman and professor H ugh D. Young.
Dr. Roger A. Freedman,
a nuclear physicist and a Lecturer at the University of California,
He graduated
from the university of California and undergo a doctoral research in Stanford
University under the supervision of professor J. Dirk Walecka. And has taught in the
university of Washington for 3 years.
Dr. Roger A. Freedman went to UCSB in 1981 and taught in both the Department of Physics and the
College of Creative Studies, a branch of the university for highly gifted and
motivated students.
He has published
research in nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, and laser physics and
in In recent years, he has worked to make physics lectures a more interactive
experience through the use of classroom response systems and pre-lecture
videos.
H ugh D. Young
is an Emeritus (1930—2013) Professor of
Physics at Carnegie Mellon University, he obtained his Phd in fundamental
particle physics under the supervision of late Richard Cutkosky at same Mellon university. He joined the faculty of Carnegie Mellon in
1956 and retired in 2004. He also had two visiting professorships at the
University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Young’s
career was centered entirely on undergraduate education.
